Round 5 - Report

The Virtual Touring Car Series continued with Round 5 at the iconic Watkins Glen circuit.

In qualifying, Wojciech Swirydowicz secured pole position with a blistering lap time of 01:57.5. Dominik Steffens followed closely behind in second place, just 0.238 seconds adrift. Michael Teusch completed the top three, trailing Swirydowicz by 0.475 seconds.

Race 9 kicked off with Swirydowicz maintaining his dominance, leading the pack from start to finish. He showcased his exceptional driving skills, keeping his cool under pressure and setting the fastest lap time of the race with a blistering 1:57.4. Swirydowicz took the checkered flag, securing a well-deserved victory. Steffens, who had started second on the grid, finished in second place, trailing Swirydowicz by a margin of 2.606 seconds. Platon Kupriyanov put on an impressive performance, starting fourth and finishing on the podium in third place. Teusch, who had initially qualified in third, crossed the line in fourth position, narrowly missing out on a podium finish. Paul Zanettacci completed the top five, providing an exciting battle throughout the race.

Race 10 witnessed a thrilling charge through the field from Swirydowicz, starting from the 15th position due to the reverse grid format. He took the lead early on and led for the majority of the race, ultimately clinching a remarkable victory. Kupriyanov, who had a strong showing throughout the weekend, secured second place, closely followed by Chriss Lindenau in third. Zanettacci continued his consistent form, finishing in fourth place, while James Egan showcased his tenacity, battling his way to fifth place from a starting position of fifth on the grid.

Unfortunately, the race saw several incidents and retirements, including Dominik Steffens and David Ward. However, it was Swirydowicz's remarkable comeback that stole the show in Race 10.

The championship standings after Round 5 reflected Swirydowicz's dominance in the series. He secured the championship win with a substantial lead over his rivals. Teusch maintained his second-place position. With one round left, the Silver and Bronze championship are still to be decided.
