Round 6 - Report

The final round of Season 2 of the Virtual Touring Car Series took place at the iconic Spa circuit in Belgium. As the drivers geared up for the last races, tensions were high, and the battle for the Silver and Bronze championships was still wide open. The qualifying session set the stage for an exciting and closely contested finale.

Qualifying:

Tony Vijfschaft secured pole position with a blistering lap time of 2:34.5. He edged out Micah Hendricks by a mere 0.154 seconds, who settled for second on the grid. Platon Kupriyanov claimed the third position, 0.652 seconds off the pace, while James Egan and Michael Teusch rounded out the top five.

Race 1:

The lights went out, and the drivers raced around the famous Spa circuit for the first race of the day. Tony Vijfschaft held his nerve and fended off intense pressure from Micah Hendricks, ultimately taking the checkered flag and securing a crucial victory. Hendricks finished just 0.339 seconds behind in second place.

Michael Teusch showcased his skill and consistency, climbing up the order to claim the final spot on the podium after starting in fifth position. James Egan battled hard but had to settle for fourth place, while Mikko Kuitunen completed the top five.

The race provided plenty of overtaking maneuvers and battles throughout the field, keeping the spectators on the edge of their seats. Platon Kupriyanov, who had shown strong pace in qualifying, faced a series of setbacks and ultimately finished a disappointing 14th after a challenging race.

Race 2:

With championships hanging in the balance, the drivers lined up for the final race of the season at Spa. Platon Kupriyanov, determined to bounce back from his previous result, started from pole position and put on a masterclass performance. He commanded the race from start to finish, crossing the line in first place and taking a well-deserved victory.

Chriss Lindenau showcased his racing prowess, moving up the order to secure an impressive second-place finish. Darryll Morrison fought hard and finished in third position, rounding out the podium.

Meanwhile, Michael Teusch continued his strong form from Race 1, surging through the pack from 13th on the grid to finish fourth. Micah Hendricks put in a solid performance and crossed the line in fifth place.

The race wasn't without its share of drama. James Egan received a three-place penalty, impacting his final position and relegating him to ninth place. Zak Holness and Emirhan Turan unfortunately had to retire from the race, ending their day prematurely.

As the checkered flag waved, the Virtual Touring Car Series Season 2 came to an exciting conclusion. Wojciech Swirydowicz won the overall championship, David Ward won the Silver class and Pascal Kalide won the Bronze class.

With the Spa round marking the end of Season 2, the drivers and teams will now set their sights on the future, eagerly awaiting the next series of the Virtual Touring Car Series.
