Race Report: VTCS SportsCar Series - Round 2 at Spa-Francorchamps
GTP Class:
James Egan stamped his authority early in the GTP class, securing the top position. His Gold-class prowess was on full display as he maneuvered through the field with finesse, clinching 30 points. Ewan Marshall closely followed, displaying remarkable consistency to finish second, accumulating 24 points.
The Silver-class drivers showcased their skills, with Sammy Hendrix securing the third position and 20 points. Mark Peck and Mats Brennsaeter finished fourth and fifth respectively, demonstrating their determination in a highly competitive field.
The race was not without its drama. Glenn Grondelaers and Iván Ubera, despite strong performances, faced a setback due to penalties, finishing seventh and eighth respectively. Neil Ferrier, Afonso Reis, Dan Mihalache, Thomas Savage, Akos Szenteszki, and Matthias Wasser faced unfortunate retirements, setting the stage for a fierce competition in the upcoming rounds.
GT3 Class:
In the GT3 class, Chriss Lindenau emerged victorious, displaying his Silver-class skills and earning 31 points. Mikko Kuitunen put up a strong fight in the Gold class, finishing second with 24 points, while David Ward showcased his expertise to secure the third position with 20 points.
Berker Sezen and Jan Šrámek impressed with their Silver-class performances, finishing fourth and fifth respectively. Daniel Merchant, despite a penalty, displayed resilience to finish sixth, showcasing his determination on the track.
Kevin Smith, Benjamin England, and Mike Woodall faced unfortunate retirements, leaving them with no points from this round. However, the spirit of competition remained high among all participants, promising an exciting season ahead.
